Faith, Challenges, & Fellowship:

I’m super excited to share another update with you all! This week was awesome, though perhaps not in the way you might expect. It was somewhat similar to last week for us. We attended church on Sunday, and I left feeling encouraged. Our week had a mix of rest days and busy days, but overall, it was eventful.

On Tuesday, we visited a Bible school in West Pokot, about two hours from home. I really enjoyed being there and meeting everyone. I’ve been trying to step back and learn as much as I can, and just two weeks in, God has already been so faithful in that. We spent only a few hours at the Bible school, had some great conversations over lunch, and then left.

Here’s where things got interesting. About thirty minutes after we left, we noticed the car was smoking badly—the radiator had a leak. Fortunately, we were passing through a town and managed to pull off the road. A mechanic spotted us and came to help. He removed the radiator and began working on it. We thought we’d hit the jackpot and it would be a quick fix, so we could get back on the road soon. After some time, he came back, and we prepared to leave. But after starting the car, it began leaking again. Despite this, we were able to move the car across the street to his shop. Now, when you think of a mechanic’s shop back home, you have a certain picture in mind, but this was definitely different. He began his second attempt at the repair. By this point, it was getting dark. We took the car for a test drive, and everything seemed to be going well—until we pulled over again and noticed it was still leaking. But we knew God was in control of all of it. At this point, we were preparing for all outcomes, including spending the night in a guesthouse and getting towed home in the morning. But after the third and final repair attempt, it seemed to stop leaking, so we started the hour-and-a-half journey back home.

We got home very late—exhausted but thankful. Those hours of being stuck were filled with good conversation, and I believe the Lord used that time to bring Shaun, Michael, and me closer together in our shared faith. When we finally made it home, we had the best dinner imaginable after such a long day—grilled cheese and chicken noodle soup. I definitely had my fair share!

The next morning, the car was taken to the mechanic that the Vances use in Eldoret. I later found out that a lot was done to our car while we were stuck, we then found out that the only reason we made it home is because the Lord allowed it to happen. We were told it was a miracle that the car got us home. We were in awe, witnessing the Lord work in such an incredible way.

Yesterday, I joined the Hudsons for another children’s ministry training at a different church. Michael and Regina did an excellent job teaching the importance of ministering to children and the logistics of preparing for those moments. I was tasked with demonstrating a children’s lesson, and it went really well!

It was an awesome week, and God moved throughout all of it! Below are some pictures from this week! Feel free to click through them!
